§ 2-20. Legal department.

  • A legal department is hereby established. The council shall appoint a city attorney, who shall be head of the legal department, together with such assistants as may be necessary who shall serve at the pleasure of the council. The city attorney shall perform such duties as are required of him by law or referred to him by the council. It shall be the official duty of the city attorney to act as "revisor of ordinances". If there is no regularly appointed and acting assistant city attorney and it becomes necessary due to absence, sickness or other cause for the city attorney to not act, the city attorney may appoint someone to act in his place at his own expense.
